Groomer’s Social Corner – 11th November 2012
Ladies and Gents,
It has been a while! Glad to be back in the swing of things, and thrilled to see the club doing so well on the pitch and especially off of it.
Thanks to MyClub for filling in the last couple of weeks with the blog, you have the literary wit of a mongoose, but you try very, very hard.
A little bit has happened since we were last in touch, American voted on a president, Texas as a result is now a communist state and Babs is a father, congratulations.
A mixed day on the pitch but never a dull moment off of it. There was great group out on Friday night after what was meant to be a double header of hockey in the evening. Alas Greenwich cried off, so the men were able to focus on dirking while the girls played before enjoying a marvelous night out in the tap room. A massive thank you must go out to Buke who managed to pick up the entire tab, we were meant to keep putting on your bill right? No seriously though $300 in Jager in the space of a couple of hours is impressive. Thank you NSG for bringing your sister and her friend, they provided enough distraction for Buke that we were able to put $300 of Jager on his bar tab. Personally that may have been the best part of my evening, but since I can’t remember the 3 hours after spent in my local whiskey rebel with Cookie, Fingers, NSG, Hot NSG sister and friend, I will have to say it was definitely the highlight.
Sunday was meant to be a festival of sport, starting with the hockey in the early afternoon, and moving down to the ‘clubhouse 2’ (my apartment) for the delayed viewing of the Giants game with old man Sheridan. Well it didn’t quite work out that way. The hockey was an ugly win. But a win nonetheless. Which is more than I can say for the Giants who were destroyed. But a stupendous turn out at the apartment saved the afternoon. There was a Delia Smith like spread of food and hors d’oeuvres, NSG’s sister was there and the beer was flowing like wine. A big thank you to all that turned up!
Coming up we have the last men’s game of the first half of the season this weekend, and December 8th will be the date for the Christmas party. Details will follow soon, but please keep it free. It was a great time last year and this year I am sure will be even better!
